Lamborghini Revuelto finished in HAUT lime, lit against a black studio backdrop

HAUT paint protection film · Hackensack, New Jersey

Keep the paint you paid for

We make clear, self-healing film that takes the rock chips, road salt and wash scratches instead of your paint — and we put it on cars ourselves. It goes on through certified shops only, because on this product it is almost never the film that fails. It is the install.

Straight answers

What actually goes wrong with paint protection film

Not what the brochures answer. These are the four complaints that fill owner forums a year or two after the money is spent — and where we stand on each one.

The full owner's guide

The edges lift, and a dirt line appears

The most-reported failure in the category, and it is almost always the install: film trimmed on the face of a panel instead of wrapped around its edge. Every HAUT shop is certified on edge work and cuts from our own pattern library, which is drawn to wrap. If you look at one thing on a demo car, look at the edge of a fender.

It goes yellow — first on a white car

Owners report it between two and eight years across every major brand, and white and silver show it first. Nobody in this category warrants against normal colour change, us included — the film takes the sun so the paint does not, and when it has taken enough it comes off and is replaced. What we do warrant against is yellowing that arrives far too early. And the material spent 6 years on customer cars in heat, coastal salt and freeze-thaw before open sale.

It took the paint with it on removal

Real, and preventable. It happens on panels that had been repainted before the film went on, on film left years past its life in a hot climate, and on film pulled cold. A certified shop checks for repaint before it quotes, and tells you which panels are a risk before anything is applied.

“Self-healing” did not heal it

Because self-healing only ever means the top fraction of a mil. Wash swirls and light marking close with heat; a deep scratch, a blade cut or a stone that went through does not, on any film made by anyone. We would rather you hear that here than discover it on your own hood.

Money

Nobody in this industry will tell you what it costs. Here is why, and what to do about it.

A partial front on a commuter car and a full body wrap on a supercar differ by an order of magnitude, so a price on a web page is a number for somebody else's car. What we can give you is the mechanics — and the questions that stop you being overcharged.

What it costs, in full
  1. 01

    Coverage decides most of it

Partial front, full front, track pack or full body. This one choice moves the number more than the brand of film ever will.

  2. 02

    Your car decides the rest

Panel count, curvature and whether the bumper has to come off. A quote priced off the real cut for your model is a quote you can check.

  3. 03

    Prep is not an upsell

Film is optically clear, so a swirl or an etch under it stays visible for years. A shop that skips correction is cheaper for a reason.

  4. 04

    Then compare like for like

Same panels, same edges wrapped, same film thickness, same warranty. Two quotes that differ by thousands are usually not quoting the same job.

The first HAUT roll came off the line in 2020. We did not sell it openly for 6 years.

How we got here

Six years on other people's cars before it was ours to sell

The first roll came off the line in 2020 and went only to partner shops who agreed to report back — heat, coastal salt, high UV, freeze-thaw. Open sale in the United States started in January 2026, from Hackensack, New Jersey.
