The honest version
Why we are not just selling you car film for a boat
Plenty of brands do exactly that. The failure modes are different enough that we would rather take the extra time.
Salt is not road grime
A film that survives ten winters of road salt on a fender is not automatically a film that survives permanent immersion at the waterline. The adhesive system is the part that decides it, and that is what is being tested.
Gelcoat is not clear coat
It is more porous, it oxidises differently, and it is repaired differently. Adhesion and removability both have to be proven against gelcoat specifically, not inferred from paint.
What we will not tell you yet
Thickness, adhesion figures, UV stability in marine exposure, or a warranty term. Publishing an estimate for a product that lives in salt water would be irresponsible.
