We tested it on customers' cars for six years first
HAUT started in 2017. The first production roll came off the line in 2020 — and then went nowhere near a customer for six years. It went to a closed network of partner shops instead, on one condition: tell us everything that goes wrong.

Why we waited
Protection film fails slowly, and only outdoors
Every failure that matters in this product — yellowing, cracking, edge lift, delamination — takes years to appear, and appears differently depending on where the car lives. There is no lab test that compresses that.
A film can pass every bench test on the first day and still go amber on a white hood in its fourth summer. The industry knows this, which is why films are sold with ten-year warranties written by people who have watched their product for two.
We took the slower route. From 2020, HAUT film went only to shops we knew, who agreed to install it on real customer cars and report back — the good installs and, more usefully, the bad ones. Different states, different climates: heat, coastal salt, high UV, freeze-thaw.
Six years later the film was still behaving the way it behaved in year one. That is the point at which we were willing to put a 10-year warranty behind it and sell it openly — January 2026, starting in New Jersey.
It is also why every product page on this site publishes measured numbers with the test method beside them. We spent six years collecting data. Hiding it would be an odd thing to do next.

The specification we publish today is the one that survived it — measured on the current production film, not on a prototype.

With six years of field data behind it, HAUT film goes on open sale in the United States, beginning in New Jersey and expanding shop by shop.
How we work
We make the film, and we put it on cars ourselves
We are not a brand that licenses someone else's film. We make it, we cut it, and we put it on cars — which is why the rest of the business looks the way it does.
We install every week
Ferraris, Porsches, customer cars with deadlines. The people who write our patterns are the people who apply them, and the ones who teach our courses.
We built our own software
HAUT CUT CORE exists because the software the industry runs on was built for sign shops. Ours is under 10 MB, runs on Mac, and does nothing a film shop does not need.
We certify the people who install it
The 10-year warranty applies to certified shops only. That is not gatekeeping — it is the only way a warranty on a hand-applied product means anything.
We publish what we measure
Thickness, transmittance, tensile strength, elongation, adhesion, hardness — each with its test method. If a number is not measured, it is not on the page.
We say what is not ready
Ceramic coating, marine film, surface film and window tint are all in development for 2027. They have pages, they have waiting lists, and they have no invented specifications.
We work where the car is
An enclosed transport trailer and a heavy-duty truck. Cars are collected, wrapped and returned when a customer cannot bring the car to a bay.

Where we are
Based in New Jersey
HAUT Protection Film Inc. specifies, warrants and ships from Hackensack, New Jersey. Open sales began here in January 2026 and the certified network is growing outward shop by shop rather than all at once — because certifying an installer properly takes longer than signing one up.
