Privacy notice for vehicle owners
This is for you if you have registered — or are thinking of registering — a warranty on a car with HAUT film on it. It is deliberately short, because we ask for very little.
HAUT Protection Film Inc. holds this information. We are at 361 NJ-17, Hackensack, NJ 07601, and the address for anything in this notice — a question, a correction, a request to delete — is warranty@haut-usa.com.
What we ask for, and nothing else
When you register a warranty we ask for:
- Your car’s VIN. It is what identifies the car a claim is about.
- Your name.
- An email address or a telephone number — whichever you prefer. One is enough; we do not need both.
- The date the film was fitted, and the name of the shop that fitted it, as you know it.
That is the whole list. We do not ask for your address, your date of birth, your payment details or anything about the car beyond its VIN. If a field is not on that list, we are not collecting it.
This site sets no advertising cookies, runs no advertising trackers and builds no profile of you.
Why we hold it
To run your warranty. Your film carries a limited ten-year warranty against delamination and cracking, and a claim years from now has to start from a record of which car, which film and which date — otherwise it starts from an argument. Registering is how that record exists.
This is not something you consent to and then can withdraw while keeping the record: the record is the thing. What you can do is have it deleted, and what that means is set out below.
Marketing is separate, optional, and off unless you tick it
There is one tick box on the registration form. If you tick it we may email you guidance on caring for the film, reminders about your coverage, and safety notices. We do not send offers, we do not pass your details to anyone, and we will never use it to send you to an installer other than the shop that did your car.
It is never a condition of registering, you can stop it from any email, and stopping it does not affect your warranty. We keep a record of the exact words that were on screen when you ticked it, so that what you agreed to is a matter of record rather than of memory.
Who sees it
People at HAUT who deal with warranties. Our systems are run for us by our software provider, who stores the data on our behalf and does not use it for anything of their own.
The shop that fitted your film is told that a registration exists and which car it is for. It is not told what you sent us. The shop already holds its own record of the job, because it wrote one — what you typed to us is a separate thing you told us, and handing it over would be making that disclosure on your behalf.
What we never do with it
- We never sell it.
- We never share it for anyone else’s marketing.
- We never use it to draw you away from the shop that served you. That is a promise we make to our installers as well as to you.
- We never merge it into advertising audiences or profiling.
- We never use it to train a model.
How long we keep it
For the 10 years your film is covered, and two years after that — a claim can be raised in the last month of cover and take time to settle, and a record deleted mid-claim helps nobody. After that it is deleted.
Or until you ask us to delete it, whenever that is.
Your rights, wherever you live
Some US states give their residents rights over their data and some do not. We are not going to check which state you are in before answering, so these apply to everybody:
- See what we hold. Ask, and we will tell you.
- Correct it. A mistyped VIN or a changed telephone number — tell us and we will fix it.
- Have it deleted. You can do this yourself, immediately, on your registration page with the reference you were given. Or email us and a person will do it.
We aim to answer within thirty days. If we get something wrong or refuse something, say so to the same address and a person will look at it again.
What deleting actually does — please read this one
Registering is how your cover is recorded. Your film carries a limited ten-year warranty against delamination and cracking, running from the date it was fitted, which is on your invoice. Registering the vehicle with us is how that cover is recorded against your car.
If you ask us to delete your registration, we remove you from it and keep the registration itself.
- What goes: your name, your telephone number, your email address, and the marketing tick if you gave it.
- What stays: the VIN, the date, and the fact that this vehicle was registered.
We do it that way on purpose. Deleting the whole record would take your cover with it, and a right to be forgotten that costs you your warranty is not a right. So the record that proves the cover stays, and the person goes.
What it costs you, and you should know before you ask: after that we have no way to reach you. If the batch of film on your car is ever recalled, we can tell the shop that fitted it. We cannot tell you.
The shop that fitted your film keeps its own record of the work — the VIN, the film, the batch, the date — with your name, telephone and email removed from it.
Keep your invoice. It is the date your cover runs from.
Children
This site and this form are for adults buying and owning vehicles. We do not knowingly collect anything from a child, and if we learn that we have, we delete it.
If this notice changes
This is version consumer-v1. If we change it, the new version gets a new name and the old one stays readable — a notice somebody registered under is never quietly edited underneath them. If a change matters to people who have already registered, we will tell them rather than leaving it on a page.
