Clear Paint Protection Film

Velvet

Where Mist leaves a soft satin sheen, Velvet goes flat. It is the finish for a build that wants no reflection anywhere on the car — and it still carries the same self-healing topcoat and the same warranty as every clear HAUT film.

Why this film

What Velvet is for

The flattest finish HAUT makes, for builds that reject shine entirely.

Genuinely flat

Not a low-gloss satin sold as matte. Velvet kills the reflection, which is why it reads so differently along a body line than a satin film does.

Self-healing topcoat

The topcoat is an elastomeric, lightly crosslinked surface. Warm it and the polymer chains regain enough mobility for the network's own elasticity to pull a light swirl back out — the deformation was stored, not removed. Wash marks close instead of collecting into a season of haze.

Protection is not the trade-off

The finish changes; the impact layer underneath does not. Velvet protects the paint the way a clear film does.

Specification

Velvet by the numbers

Production-lot values from the HAUT technical data sheet for this film, each with the ASTM method it was measured against.

How we test
FinishFlat matte
Warranty10 years

Values are from the technical data sheet for each film. Testing is carried out at the production line to the standards listed — national methods that are adoptions of the ISO standards named on the test-methods page. Where an ASTM method is equivalent it is given there for reference; no value on this site has been re-run to ASTM, and we do not print an ASTM code as though it had been. Where a film has no measured value for a property, the row is left out rather than filled in.

How Velvet differs

The film closest to Velvet in the range is Mist. Velvet is Flat matte; Mist is Satin — 28–35% gloss at 60°. The flattest finish HAUT makes, for builds that reject shine entirely.

Every HAUT film carries a 10-year limited warranty against cracking, delamination and blistering when installed by a certified shop and registered online.

An em-dash means we have not measured that property on that film yet, not that it performs badly. Values shown as “≥” are guaranteed minimums from a released data sheet; values shown as “up to” are the highest recorded across tested lots. Those are different kinds of number and comparing them directly will mislead you. Values are from the technical data sheet for each film.
